World-Building
Stranger than fiction
===
By faith we understand that the worlds were set in order at God’s command, so that the visible has its origin in the invisible.
Hebrews 11:3 (NET)

I know this is a strange verse to highlight.
I’m using it as a reminder of the imago dei, that is, that I am made in the image of God.
See, this past year I’ve been fascinated by the prospect of world-building, especially as it relates to business. Again, kind of strange, I know.
God created the World; as an image bearer, I can create my own world.
For you, that doesn’t have to relate to business.
It could be a world around your ministry … or your family … or your hobbies. A chance to use the creative mind that God has given you and use it to glorify God.
I want to create a business where I can funnel them into discipleship relationships & make money to give to God’s Kingdom work. That dream makes me excited to get up in the morning.
You’ll have to find your own world-building dream.
There’s not really a checklist for this, but we do have examples of people who built their own worlds:
C.S. Lewis wrote The Chronicles of Narnia. He once said that the entire 7-book series began with one image he had in his head: a little girl lost in a snow-covered forest who encounters a faun carrying packages and an umbrella. No thought of Aslan (the Christ motif) nor of what it would become. He just started with that scene and started writing.
The world sort of built itself from there.
Creation begats more creation.
As image bearers, creation is something we should be doing.
