Whom Shall I Fear?
The stronghold of God’s grace
===
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1 (ESV)
===
I didn’t really plan this to be another stronghold verse, yet here we are.
Paul echoed these thoughts in his letter to the Philippians.
In it, he talked about how even if he were to die, well, that would be gain.
Paul no longer feared people.
He was set on being the obedient servant of Christ.
A good example for us to aspire to. I know I still struggle with letting my own ego get in the way. In a sense, fearing the jeers and disapproval of people.
Or, even fearing the disapproval in myself.
Knowing that I could be doing better than I am.
It’s hard to escape fearing your own self-judgment.
No where to run from that.
This is when memorizing the truth in Scripture is critical for me.
It gives me the chance to continuously preach Truth to myself. Then I can counter the lies I think — whether from my own deceitful heart or influenced from the Enemy — with the Word of God.
Essentially, running into the stronghold of God’s grace.
While that may or may not be physically safe, it’s spiritually the safest place I can be.
In that case, what’s left to fear?
