Whole Mind (Part 4)
Better than the Colorado Rockies … (not the baseball team)

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.
Philippians 4:8 (NET)

Today’s thought:
Think about whatever is pure & lovely.
I’m combining these two today. They seem to go together well enough. Pure things are lovely and lovely things are often pure.
First, pure.
To me, I think about the purity of the righteousness of God. That the blood of Christ washes us of our sins and makes us pure & righteous. We don’t have to rely on our good works to try and get us to heaven (as if they could … they can’t). We can rely on the perfect work of Jesus as the perfect substitute for our lack of righteousness.
As believers, we are now free to do good works in appreciation of the greater work God did for us.
What about the lovely things?
We get to have an appreciation for the beauty God has created all around us.
I used to live in the foothills of Colorado. A lot of people there were very spiritual but didn’t know who they believed in. They simply saw the majesty of the mountains around them and appreciated the beauty but stopped short of glorifying God.
What a waste.
I’m thankful I get to see the greatness of the lovely things God has created here on earth AND I can praise God for them.
The lovely things help me refocus on the most lovely thing: God.
I get to look on beauty and say, “wow! God you’re so awesome.”
These are just some small ways I think about the pure & lovely things of God.
