Whole Mind (Part 2)
š¶ R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of respect, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if something is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things.
Philippians 4:8 (NET)

Continuing on our discussion of this verse:
Think about whatever is worthy of respect.
Defined, respect is an attitude of admiration or esteem. Who could we esteem more than God, creator of the Universe.
When Jesus taught his disciples to pray, he began by esteeming God. āOur Father, in heaven, may your name be honored.ā He taught us to begin prayer by reminding ourselves of the proper perspective: that we are here on earth, God is in heaven, and we are to honor (respect) Him.
We can get a little more practical than just thinking about God.
For instance, I can begin thanking God for the things Heās done.
You know, a lot of success teachers & coaches place a ton of emphasis on the value of having an attitude of gratitude. They see the tangential benefits of being a person who walks around thankful for many good things in life.
But if theyāre not thankful to God, then theyāre only part-right.
As believers, we can have this same thankful attitude, but our big advantage is being thankful to the actual Creator. Itās all a part of the relationship we have with God.
We can also think about good things God wants us to do.
Iām talking about actions we do because we love God and want to please Him. Following His commands. Being faithful to His Church. Loving our neighbors.
In short, dreaming about how to make the world better by working with God & helping fulfill His Kingdom.
Iām only scratching the surface, more tomorrow.
