When you struggle to trust God, remember this story
Is the Lord’s Hand Shortened?
===
And the Lord said to Moses, “Is the Lord’s hand shortened? Now you will see whether my word to you will come true or not!”
Numbers 11:23 (NET)
===
Spoiler alert:
God’s hand is not shortened.
So, here’s what was going on:
Israel was wandering in the wilderness (because they didn’t trust God to help them defeat the enemies occupying the Promised Land). They began craving all the different food they had while enslaved in Egypt -- especially meat.
God told Moses He was going to give them so much meat they’d be able to eat their fill and more for a whole month.
Moses doubted that it was possible.
Interesting that someone who was used by God to do so many miracles doubted this one.
I don’t say that as a knock on Moses because I’m worse.
How many times has God brought me safely through troubling storms in life, and yet, when the next storm comes, I struggle to trust God through that one?
A lot.
Which is why this is a good verse.
It’s a stark reminder to me that God can do whatever He wants -- including mighty miracles that defy my unbelief.
I often find myself praying, “Lord, I want to believe. Help my unbelief.”
I feel like this is a more humble and safer way to express my doubts.
At the very least, it prepares my heart to be open to the awesome power of the Lord.
