Whatever You Do
Putting a picture on God’s refrigerator

And whatever you do in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Colossians 3:17 (NET)

There’s a big picture in the lesson here.
That Paul is talking to us about honoring God with our whole lives. Doing everything for His glory.
Not to mention living a life of thankfulness for His goodness.
I’ve found that it’s much easier to give God glory in all things — big or small — when I’m in a constant mood of gratitude.
My parents have a good habit of celebrating most wins in life by saying, “God is good.”
To which the reply is “All the time.”
Perhaps a little bit corny in its ritual, but it always refocuses me. Reminds me that all that I have is a gift from God and I am but a mere steward here on earth.
Besides, as believers we are already filled with the Holy Spirit. Since we’re “bringing” God with us wherever we go, we might as well honor Him along the way.
On the negative side, I don’t like thinking about the shame of God with me when I fall short and sin.
But, on the positive side, I have the opportunity to please my heavenly Father with all that I say and do. Parents display the scribblings of their children with pride on their refrigerators. I imagine something similar happens with God when we show Him our own meager scribblings.
There’s no shame to the little work we do in His honor.
Only joy for His children doing the best they can (with His help along the way).
