What to do when trials overwhelm you
We Are Powerless
===
Our God, will you not judge them? For we are powerless against this huge army that attacks us. We don’t know what we should do; we look to you for help.
2 Chronicles 20:12 (NET)
===
Have you ever felt powerless against the trials of life?
Yeah, me too.
Sometimes life throws storms & disasters at you, seemingly out of nowhere, and you just don’t know what to do.
It’s actually a great reminder of how powerless we actually are.
I tend to think that I have more control over my life than I really do.
Sure, I know that most of the outcomes of my life are based on decisions I chose to make (or chose not to make). I have the power to make decisions.
But sometimes trials just come and I’m left wondering, “what do I do?”
We should look to God for help.
Obviously, we should be doing that anyway, with everything in life.
But if you’re like me, then you probably forget to include God in things. After all, a lot of decisions feel small and why should I bother God with this when I can just do it myself?
That’s actually foolish.
God is a good Father and wants to be involved in ALL of our life.
More than that:
The book of James tells us to consider it all joy when we meet trials because we know that this testing of our faith produces steadfastness (or perseverance).
The trials bring us closer to God.
Which builds our relationship and trust with Him.
Despite the harsh circumstances that lead us there, that’s a good outcome.
Besides, someday all the trials will be over and we’ll be in the presence of the glorious King forever.
What a day that’ll be!
