What to do the next time you’re lying awake in fear
What god Compares?
===
O God, your deeds are extraordinary. What god can compare to our great God? You are the God who does amazing things; you have revealed your strength among the nations.
Psalm 77:13-14 (NET)
===
The next time you’re tossing and turning in bed, awake with fear of what tomorrow may bring, this is the Psalm for you.
I wish I could share the whole chapter, but this middle verse will have to be enough.
It’s a classic turning point in the lament.
The writer begins praying & preaching to himself about how good & powerful the Lord is.
While the first half of the psalm is a lamenting wallow in the troubles he has, this is where he re-centers himself.
Then spends the second half sharing about what God has done for His people.
A powerful example for us to follow.
When it’s the dead of night and I’m feeling down, I can remind myself of the faithfulness of the Father.
Plenty of miracles to focus on, in the Scriptures themselves and in my own life.
God’s deeds are extraordinary.
I can attest to that.
None compares to our God.
The most amazing thing He’s done?
Giving His life in my place so I could have eternal life with Him.
I just never get over it.
And it makes the troubles of tomorrow not seem so … troubling.
