To God be the glory, great things He has done
The Battle Is God’s
===
[The Levite] said: “Pay attention, all you people of Judah, residents of Jerusalem, and King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Don’t be afraid and don’t panic because of this huge army! For the battle is not yours, but God’s.
2 Chronicles 20:15 (NET)

Sometimes I need a verse like this in my back pocket.
Life comes at us fast & hard.
If I’m not careful, I’ll give in to fear and end up doing something stupid.
How often in Scripture does God tell us to fear not, be courageous, and hope in God?
I didn’t count, but it’s a lot.
Of course this is no excuse to be reckless. God can, obviously, save us from anything. But He doesn’t always promise to save us from everything.
He may have lessons to teach us via the consequences of our own actions.
Or maybe there’s something bigger happening that we just can’t see.
Getting back to the encouragement of this verse… be strong and trust in God.
Here’s a situation where the people of Israel are without many options.
The only way they make it through the battle is if God fights on their behalf.
(Always true, by the way, yet we so often foolishly ignore this fact.)
They realize this and cry out to God -- and He hears their cry!
The Father is a good father and takes care of His children.
Sometimes He gives us extra grace and takes care of us despite our shortcomings. Sometimes He takes care of us for His Name’s sake.
Either way, the best thing to do is to give God the glory, for great things He has done.
