They may look brave, but actually they’re…
Lazy & Weak
===
You have slacked off in the day of trouble—your strength is small!
Proverbs 24:10 (NET)
===
A short but tough one today.
Something I’ve noticed about “the day of trouble” is it’s almost inevitable (rainy days are going to come around) and it seems to hit you out of nowhere.
Meaning the only way to prepare for it is to be generally strong.
Obviously this is more mental, spiritual, and emotional strength than muscles.
You don’t need to look like 1980s Arnold Schwarzenegger in the day of trouble to come out ahead. David was a little shepherd boy -- a runt -- and he took out a giant.
God can do mighty things through faithful people.
But back to this proverb:
When the storms of life come, you must be prepared and face them without fear.
Like I said, it’s hard to be prepared if you don’t know what storm it will be. So a wholistic preparation is best.
Things like spending extended time in deep relationship with God. Memorizing His Word. Gathering wise counselors around you.
All of these resources help you face the storms without fear.
Or, at least acting with courage despite fear.
From everything I can tell, brave people don’t often ooze courage.
Usually they’re just as scared as everyone else.
The difference?
They decide to do the right thing anyway, no matter the consequences.
They may look brave, but actually they’re faithful and full of integrity.
