The Lord Watches the Earth
Sharing wisdom with myself (and you too)
===
Certainly the Lord watches the whole earth carefully and is ready to strengthen those who are devoted to him.
2 Chronicles 16:9a (NET)
===
So, for a little bit of context, this was a prophet speaking to a king after he foolishly decided to rely on the strength of a neighboring kingdom instead of God.
I say foolish, because it is, but I struggle with something similar to this too.
Not relying on another army, but relying on something other than God.
There’s a balance between using the wisdom God gives us and placing faith in Him.
I have a tendency to try and think up solutions to problems on my own instead of first going to God in prayer and asking for His help.
Maybe that’s not as dire as invading armies, but the principle is similar.
Here we have a verse that stands as a testament to God’s faithfulness.
That God is watching the earth, standing ready to strengthen those who are devoted to Him.
Am I devoting myself to God faithfully?
That’s the big question to wrestle with today.
Of course, I ask this as much of myself as I do for you to consider.
By the time I get around to reading these emails in the mornings, I’ve usually forgotten enough of what I wrote that it feels fresh.
Ironic that I get to share wisdom with myself.
But also, I think that’s pretty cool.
Anyway, I hope this verse serves as an encouragement for you and that you reflect on it today.
