The Lord Is Good
Blessings from the Lord
===
Taste and see that the Lord is good.
How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him.
Psalm 34:8 (NET)
===
I have a special place in my heart for this verse.
I memorized it as a testimony to give right before I baptized one of my friends who got saved in college. His story was one of the Lord slowly drawing him back to righteousness by spending time with our friend group.
He tasted and saw the good example of God’s grace.
I don’t claim much credit, but he did ask me to baptize him, and that says a lot.
Anyway, this is one of those verses that’s good for resetting myself.
Anytime I feel “off,” I can relax, breathe in, and remember that the Lord is good.
Plus, it comes with a proverbial promise: the person who takes shelter in God is blessed.
A proverbial promise is one of those “always true except when it’s not” things. That is, generally true but sometimes life makes exceptions.
Blessings can mean much more than money.
Blessings can come in the relationships we have, the experiences we get, bad things that God removes from our path, and, yes, money.
I’m sure I’ve experienced much more blessings from God than I know.
I’m grateful for all of them.
Because many years ago I tasted and saw that the Lord is good. And now I take shelter in Him.
I pray that you’ll be blessed today as well.
