Strong Tower
Masterpieces in the fortress of the Lord

The name of the Lord is like a strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high.
Proverbs 18:10 (NET)

This is one of my favorite imagery of God.
That He would be a fortress, a strong tower, for us Christian soldiers. A refuge for those who are in the spiritual fight.
I love that God is a mobile tower.
I guess the metaphor breaks down a little there.
But God is always with His children. Especially via the Holy Spirit who lives inside of us.
Meaning our refuge is never far away.
We have only to seek Him out, ask for help, and He comes to our rescue.
Of course sometimes we still must deal with the consequences of our own foolish decisions.
Just because God can supernaturally correct all mistakes doesn’t mean He’s always promised to.
There are many stories in the Bible of times when God intervenes but the people must still deal with the consequences of their actions.
I think of King David taking a census of the people (which God had specifically told them not to do) and how he sought forgiveness but still faced punishment.
God weaves a masterpiece of life despite our sin.
It’s amazing to me how well He turns broken things — broken people — into a beautiful tapestry. He doesn’t ignore the mistakes, He works around them.
So, if you’re facing consequences of your own foolishness today, ask for mercy from God.
He grants grace & forgiveness.
Maybe He’ll be merciful and rescue you or maybe He’ll discipline you.
Regardless, He loves you with an immeasurable love.
