Scripture (Part 2)
4 ways Scripture shapes your walk with God
===
Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NET)

I want to quickly hit on the four uses for Scripture:
1. Teaching
Simple enough. We see examples of this all the time when we go to church.
I would point out the dangers of teaching & learning Godly things from books or sermons that aren’t littered with a lot of Scripture. That’s often a slippery slope of deception from the Enemy. Be on guard.
2. Reproof
This is pointing out an error.
This happens to me quite often, especially when reading any of Jesus’ words or the letters from Paul. I can see when I’m not mature yet and I’ve still got work to do.
Which is fine, I’m still here on the earth and allowing the Holy Spirit to continue to work on me.
3. Correction
While reproof is pointing out the error, correction is showing the better path.
If it was only reproof, the work of the Spirit would be depressing because we would only ever see what we should turn away from, and not where we should go toward.
I think of these as two sides of the same coin.
4. Training in righteousness
Think of this as athletic training, but for our spiritual walk with Jesus.
It takes discipline and focus. Hard work. But the eternal rewards are 100% worth it.
Much better than some trophy that could break apart if handled wrong … our rewards are eternal life with God!
Okay, that was really fast, and I would encourage you to pick out one and think deeper on it today.
Even more tomorrow.
