Romans Road to Salvation: Stop #1 (All Have Sinned)
Your first stop on the road to faith
===
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 3:23 (NET)
===
Let’s start with the foundation of Christian faith:
Salvation from sin & death through Jesus Christ alone.
If you’re already a believer, then this verse should encourage you as a reminder of who you once were and what Jesus has saved you from. It encourages me. I’m a broken man who often falls short of God’s standards.
Even now, after salvation, I’m still a work in progress.
But I was in worse shape before accepting Jesus as the boss of my life because I was on the road to hell.
And my road was paved with good intentions.
I don’t have some flashy story about how I hit rock bottom in life and God saved me from the muck … but I do remember being a young boy, around kindergarten, and knowing that my parents had something about Jesus that I didn’t — but I wanted it.
And so, when I heard and understood about letting Jesus into my life (i.e., becoming “The Boss” of my life), I said “Yes.”
Now, getting back to Romans 3:23, sinning is all about falling short of God’s standards.
I bet if you take a minute and think about your life you can see some times when you’ve fallen short of God’s high & holy standards.
What can be done when you’ve fallen short?
A good question because, like the verse says, every one of us has fallen short. And it leads us to stop #2 on this road …
See you here tomorrow.
