Received God’s Spirit
The gift that keeps on giving
===
Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.
1 Corinthians 2:12 (ESV)

For the past 8 years or so, I’ve continued a (mostly) daily habit:
Reading a chapter of Proverbs every day.
This pace allows me to get through the book of Proverbs once a month. So, I’ve probably been through it about 90 times.
Sometimes, I still see verses stand out to me like I’ve read them for the very first time.
Which is incredible.
I know that I’ve read that verse dozens of times, yet there are those days when it just seems to jump out of the page, grab hold of my heart, and cause me to go, “Huh … I’ve never thought about it like that before.”
How can this be?
Well, as part of the salvation work of God, He gives us His Holy Spirit.
So now, as believers, we have God living within us, helping us to understand the things freely given to us by God.
Such as the Scriptures.
In Deuteronomy 29:29 we see that God reveals hidden things to His children so that we will walk in righteousness. God is good, and He gives us not only the ability to follow Him in obedience (via the power of the Holy Spirit) but also the knowledge of where to go and what to do.
Of course, I’ve got to stay “in tuned” with the Spirit.
Jesus did this by praying … a lot.
For me, prayer seems to be this season’s big project.
Will you help me learn to pray? Just reply with your requests and I’ll add it to my list.
