Meditate on God’s Word
May the odds be ever in your favor
===
This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:8 (ESV)
===
Lots o’ people are looking for the road to success.
Turns out, we’re not much different today than we were a few thousand years ago.
Yeah, the tech has changed. Fashion has updated. Flying is a thing … but the human heart? The hopes and desires of people?
… pretty much the same.
Here we have a sort of command / proverb. God exhorts Joshua to tell Israel to think about His Word day and night, to keep it in their mouths continually. And he instructs them to be careful to do all that is written in it.
An impossible task — which is why we needed a savior.
Anyway, the proverb then jumps in telling them that following God’s Words is the pathway to prosperity and success.
This isn’t a strict 1-for-1 mathematical formula, it’s probabilities. The person who follows the precepts of God, finds themselves in rhythm with how God made the universe. So success will tend to follow.
I like stacking the odds in my favor.
Sure, there’s wisdom out there in learning from older & more successful people. But I also like going straight to the source, to the creator of all wisdom. And here, God is showing me a road to success.
Not an easy road, but a good road.
I find it encouraging and I hope you do too.
