Love One Another (Part 2)
“Oh, they’re Jesus people”
===
I give you a new commandment—to love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.
Everyone will know by this that you are my disciples—if you have love for one another.
John 13:34-35 (NET)
===
Personally, I’m fascinated by this second verse.
It’s a bit mind-blowing to know that by loving the Body of Christ (the Church), the world will know that I’m a disciple of Jesus.
I’ve had times when my lifestyle and choices — especially at work over the years — led people to wonder, “what’s different about you? You’re not like the other people here.”
Which is a good feeling, it swelled me with pride a little bit … and then I had to ask for forgiveness.
😆
But that’s a bit different than the world seeing my love for other believers and knowing, “Oh, they’re Jesus people.”
What fascinates me is the “how.”
How can I love the Church in a way that the world obviously sees Christ?
It’s a question well worth pondering. One that, admittedly, I haven’t taken all that much time to sit and ponder. But I can give you a thought this morning:
How about putting the goals and interests of others before myself?
It’s this servant’s heart attitude — something the greedy & selfish world can’t quite understand — that can lead people to looking at us and thinking, “Oh, they’re Jesus people.”
So, that’s one possible answer.
Maybe you have one too?
Would you share any inspiring thoughts or stories you have about loving one another?
If you will, please reply. 😀
