Look up in the stars
The Heavens Declare
===
The heavens declare the glory of God; the sky displays his handiwork.
Psalm 19:1 (NET)
===
A classic, coffee-cup verse.
I’m surprised I missed it last year.
But let’s look beyond the common elements of this verse.
God’s creation declares its own evidence of His existence & power.
I was talking with my dad the other day about the Pharisees who asked Jesus for a sign. Yet Jesus refused to give them another sign because they didn’t need one.
They already had the Scriptures.
They have the stars and the sky and the creation of the world.
They had no excuse to ignore the signs around them declaring that Jesus is the Messiah.
Likewise, today, we have no excuse to disbelieve God.
The evidence is all around us. The universe has consistent order to it, implying that there is a great Designer who put it all together.
Beyond that, we live in an information age where almost everyone has access to almost all information -- including the Scriptures which are available online.
Especially if someone speaks or reads English.
The skies and stars are not the total revelation of God…
…but they are a starting point.
