Jesus Is the Way
The eternal choice everyone must make
===
Jesus replied, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6 (NET)
===
A classic verse.
Completely arrogant if it’s untrue.
What a massive thing to declare, that you’re THE way, THE truth, and THE life. Blasphemy … if it’s untrue.
Of course, Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and what He’s saying is true.
C.S. Lewis once talked about the only three categories you can put Jesus into. This verse is a prime reason why.
The categories:
1. A Liar
2. A Lunatic
3. The Lord
No one who’s just a “good teacher” or merely a “prophet” can make a statement like this and stay in that category. Anyone who labels Jesus as these — or any other similar label — has not read the things Jesus said.
Jesus doesn’t give us the excuse of “good teacher” or “prophet.” We must choose to believe Him or not. There is no middle, wiggle room.
For anyone who likes living in a black-and-white world, this is great news.
But, if you’re like me and don’t mind the gray, then this is tough. It forces a decision on me and I don’t exactly like being forced to make decisions.
The truth is, though, that by not making a decision, I’m still making a decision. And that decision defaults to “no.”
As for me and my house, I will give Jesus my “yes.”
After all, He is The Lord.
