Jesus Is the Resurrection
The best quality gift

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live even if he dies, and the one who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
John 11:25-26 (NET)

So this is in the story of Jesus raising his friend Lazarus from the dead.
Bold words for someone to say, unless they can back it up.
Jesus always backs up His words.
Nothing like calling a dead man back to life in order to emphasize the point that He is the resurrection and the life.
Now, Lazarus did eventually die again.
In fact, the death rate remains around 100%.
So I have to assume that Jesus is talking about spiritual death and life here. Otherwise it doesn’t make sense.
Eternal life is spent in the presence of God, forever.
A few weeks ago my pastor was talking about eternal life.
He made a point that the adjective for “eternal” isn’t just talking about the length of time, but also about the quality of this life.
Thinking in those terms, we can see that eternal life has an extra quality about it. That it’s in perfection, no more sin. No more death. Forever with God.
That’s almost unbelievably exciting.
I say almost for obvious reasons.
It does take faith in Christ for us to gain this eternal quality of life.
Plus some obedience of our King while we serve Him.
A tiny price to pay for the best gift ever.
