Jesus Is Knocking
The amazing power of eating with Jesus
===
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20 (ESV)

There’s something spiritual about sharing meals.
I’m not exactly sure what it is, but sharing a meal has a way of knitting people together, creating relationships.
The imagery here is important.
Jesus, the powerful creator of the universe, waits for us to invite Him into our lives. He doesn’t run up, kick down the door, and shout, “Sit down! We’re going to have a meal together and you’re gonna like it!”
That would be ridiculous.
And quite terrifying.
No. Here we see Jesus patiently knocking on the door of our hearts, letting us know that He’s right there, available for whenever we want to invite Him in. And that He wants to build a relationship with us while breaking bread.
So, how do we break bread with Jesus?
Well, one way is by sharing meals (and life) with other believers. After all, the Church is the Body of Christ.
Another way is by spending time in the Bible, the Word of God, which is greater than bread alone (according to Jesus as he rejected the temptation of the Enemy).
And, some day, we’ll get to actually break bread with Jesus at a heavenly feast.
What a day THAT will be!
For now, my job is to listen for Jesus’ knocking, open the door wide to my heart, and invite Him in to share a meal.
It’s pretty cool that God wants to eat with me every day.
