It’s not up for negotiation
The Lord Will Be Honored
===
Moses then said to Aaron, “This is what the Lord spoke: ‘Among the ones close to me I will show myself holy, and in the presence of all the people I will be honored.’” So Aaron kept silent.
Leviticus 10:3 (NET)
===
This reminds me of that passage in Philippians 2.
That every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.
It’s not up for negotiation.
Notice there is a binary split here:
God will show Himself holy to those close to Him.
What can this be other than those who are redeemed, in relationship with God? Instead of being the enemies of God, because of the work of Jesus we get the chance to become friends of God.
Close friends.
Friends who would literally die for one another.
There’s also the reality that God will be honored in the presence of all people.
Whether that happens while they’re living on earth, or after Judgment Day, is yet to be determined.
Of course we hope that as many as possible would submit to Christ and honor Him as Lord while they’re living on earth.
Our jobs as believers here is to both honor God and share the news of His Lordship with the rest of the world. Honoring God with our actions helps demonstrate His Lordship to those unbelievers watching.
In other words, we live Godly lives in part because we don’t want to look like hypocrites.
A hypocritical life dishonors God.
Oof!
I felt that as soon as I wrote it.
My prayer today: “Lord, may my whole heart and all my actions honor You before people.”
