Is Anything Impossible for the Lord?
A question I don’t ask often enough
===
Is anything impossible for the Lord? I will return to you when the season comes round again and Sarah will have a son.
Genesis 18:14 (NET)
===
Abraham and Sarah were well past the age of pregnancy.
She shouldn’t have been able to even have a child.
Yet God set up this miracle to fulfill a promise He had made to Abraham that would give them a son to carry their name.
It sounded so ridiculous to Sarah that she laughed.
I need reminders like this of the awesome power of God.
I tend to forget what He can do when I’m trying to live my day to day life. When that happens, I stop asking for big things from Him, instead preferring to try and solve problems myself.
I understand that God gave us a brain & body to do work on our own.
I’m not looking for miracles in order to fuel laziness.
But it’s a tragedy to ignore a loving, heavenly Father who loves to give good gifts to those who ask Him.
What blessings have I bypassed because I was too stubborn — trying to do things my way?
I don’t want to know the answer.
But what I can do is set reminders for myself to slow down, ask God for help first, and then set out to work on the solution. This is a much better plan than working on a solution, then failing, then failing again, then reaching my last straw and realizing that I should ask God for help.
Yeah … asking Him first is the smart plan.
