Integrity
God delights to answer prayers from these people
===
Trust in the Lord and do what is right. Settle in the land and maintain your integrity. Then you will take delight in the Lord, and he will answer your prayers.
Psalm 37:3-4 (NET)

I’m going to keep the “God answering prayers” theme going today.
This verse functions more like a proverb, so remember that this is not an absolute formula or promise. It’s a general truth that usually proves out.
I like how it gives us actions that lead to a heart attitude.
What we see here is that we should (1) trust in the Lord and (2) do what is right. Most of the time, those actions are easy to identify.
Of course, they’re often hard to follow. Temptation creeps up on us all the time.
Anyway, the action leads to a heart that delights in God.
Then we see that God generally answers the prayers of those who delight in Him.
On top of all this, we also get a tiny glimpse of what “doing what is right” can look like:
Settle in the land and maintain your integrity.
This would be a call to work where we are living & be a people of our word.
I think of this as working hard (an integrity issue) and keeping my promises (also an integrity issue).
A person who delights in God would want to honor Him with this kind of life. We would show ourselves to be good servants of our King.
I guess I’m saying that all of these actions and attitudes feed into one another.
Sort of like an unending circle of integrity.
And it comes with a promise of God answering our prayers … pretty cool!
