Several years ago I listened to a sermon on key passages in the book of Daniel.
Sprinkled throughout was the thesis “God is the ruler over the kingdoms of men.”
Someday I may go over that phrase, but I mention it here because it reminds me that God always has a purpose for His miracles.
That all the peoples of the earth may know that the LORD’s hand is mighty and they might reverentially fear Him forever.
The miracles we see, especially the ones against the kingdom of Egypt in Exodus, are all demonstrations of God’s power above all others.
He is greater than the idols of Egypt.
He is also greater than any oppression or enemy you face today.
The miracles are more than good stories.
Personally, I find them comforting.
When I’m facing struggles in my own life -- and no matter what the struggle is, it almost always feels completely impossible to defeat -- I can look at what God has done in the past and trust Him for my future.
What a blessing it is to have these things written down for us!
I sometimes wonder how Abraham did it.
He had to trust God for decades and he didn’t have written Scriptures to read every day.
I couldn’t do what he did; I need daily help by reading the Word.
Reminders like today’s verse help spur me on, despite my struggles.
I can trust that God’s hand is mighty and He takes care of the children He loves so much.
