Walk in Truth

We have lots of ways of blessing our ministry leaders:

Thank yous, money, gifts, dinners, prayers…

But what about reporting how their teaching has helped you walk in truth?

It might be sharing some story from your life that went well because of something they taught you. Or how you avoided something terrible.

Perhaps it’s a way that you’ve grown closer to Jesus that you can link to things they’ve done for you.

Whatever it may be — big or small — John here tells us that it’s a prime joy to hear.

Of course that must mean a few things:

First, that you were actually paying attention to the things they were teaching you. That’s the only way you could learn from them.

Second, you put their teaching into practice. It should lead to a good result.

Third, taking the time to tell them about how it’s blessed you.

Doing this can make you a person who’s blessed to be a blessing.

It doesn’t even require money out of your pocket, just a simple conversation.

Humans have shared stories about life for our entire existence.

Sharing a story with your mentor in order to bring them great joy should be a piece of cake.
