Grow Strong in Faith
Faith like Abraham
===
No unbelief made [Abraham] waver concerning the promise of God, but he grew strong in his faith as he gave glory to God, fully convinced that God was able to do what He had promised.
Romans 4:20-21 (ESV)

This is such an encouraging verse.
…And a challenging verse.
I find it amazing how Abraham was able to hold on to God’s promises, growing strong in his faith…
…Without the Bible!
I know he wavered around from time to time, making dumb decisions with big consequences. But still… walking with God, growing in his faith, giving glory to God without the aid of daily time spent in God’s Word is astonishing to me!
Here I am trying my best to honor God day to day, and the only way I have a chance of doing that is starting my days with time in His Word.
…okay, I’ll confess … I don’t usually start my day with time in God’s Word …
😱
…
I start it with a cup of coffee first.
☕
Then I get to the Bible.
All right, joking aside, I think the key to Abraham’s success here is his unwavering belief: He absolutely believed that God was able to do the things that God promised He would do.
In other words: Faith
Jesus told us that faith the size of a mustard seed could move mountains. Though, I don’t know how you measure faith in comparable seed sizes … a puzzle for another day.
Regardless, the question I’m asking myself this morning is “do you believe, really believe, that God will do what He says He’ll do?”
If it’s “no” — and I’ll admit the answer is “no” more often than I’d like — then my task is simply to pray, “Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief.”
