Greedy little deception that promises double but leaves you with nothing
Rest with Enough
===
Better is one handful with some rest than two hands full of toil and chasing the wind.
Ecclesiastes 4:6 (NET)

How much is “enough?”
It’s a question most all of us will face, especially when making plans for retirement.
After all, retirement isn’t just an age, it’s a financial number as well.
But you didn’t come here for money talk, you came for spiritual thoughts.
There’s wisdom in finding “enough” and then resting.
For one, God promises to take care of His people. He supplies our needs and is so generous that He often gives above and beyond our needs and takes care of some of our wants as well.
Also, at least some of the wisdom here is in denying greed.
Greed threatens to creep into our lives and steal time from us.
I say time because that’s what we miss out on when we spend our life — our energy — striving for more and more gain. The fool in this verse is trying to double his handful and ends up with nothing.
It doesn’t always play out like that, but often it does.
How much life have you missed by striving for that extra bit? “I have to do one more project … go for one more promotion … grab one more offer.”
Meanwhile the things that matter — the things we miss at the end of our time here on earth — pass us right on by.
It’s a tragedy.
And it’s a trap of foolishness from the lying lips of the Enemy.
I’m preaching to myself today, and I say, “take the advice of this verse. Find ‘enough’ and then rest in God.”
