Think different

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

At first glance this seems kind of obvious.

Nobody’s thoughts are exactly the same as someone else’s.

But this goes much further than just a difference in particular thoughts.

God is holy, and higher than us in every way.

I find relief in this.

Even though I struggle through the unknown of life, God is above it all. He’s powerful, rules over it all. Nothing happens to me without Him allowing it to happen.

He clearly has much more wisdom than me.

And He also has so much more grace than me.

Again, a relieving thought because I can rest in His care.

Yet God’s thoughts don’t have to be a complete mystery.

As believers, we have His Spirit literally living within us. Helping, comforting, and guiding us in our lives.

We also have His Word, written down for our instruction so that we can follow His will all our days.

Sure, there are many hidden things that belong only to the Lord. But we have plenty that’s been revealed, enough to keep us busy as we navigate life.

Not to mention the ability to simply talk to God (pray) whenever we want.

That’s actually quite astounding, that a holy God gives us the chance to be in relationship with Him.
