God’s Mighty Power (Part 2)
Plug it in, plug it in
===
Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me.
Colossians 1:28-29 (ESV)

So let’s break these verses down a bit:
First, Paul is proclaiming Christ. That’s the “Him” he is preaching.
Simple enough.
Now, how does he go about this?
Evangelism & Discipleship.
Of course, warning everyone is the evangelism aspect. Proclaiming the good news of the Gospel to the people who are lost and without hope of eternal life. That is, everyone he comes across who hasn’t placed Jesus as their Lord.
Teaching is the discipleship.
Just like Jesus, in the Great Commission, gave us the instructions for what to teach everyone (everything He had commanded them), Paul is teaching the disciples with wisdom so that they grow up (become mature).
How can Paul do all this?
Through God’s mighty power.
It is the Holy Spirit that empowers him with the energy required to accomplish this toil.
Toil is an interesting word. It indicates very hard work. Paul understands that this spiritual work is not a walk in the park …
It’s difficult.
In fact, so difficult that it’s impossible without the Holy Spirit.
The great news is that this power is available to us today.
We have access to the Holy Spirit.
So, whenever I’m feeling a lack of power in my spiritual life, then I simply need to get plugged in.
