God’s amazing like that!
Hold Fast to Righteousness
===
I hold fast my righteousness and will not let it go; my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.
Job 27:6 (ESV)
===
It says “hold fast” but I like “cling” (from the CSB) a little more.
Oh well, no matter what translation you pick, this is still a good verse.
Often in the middle of life’s struggles I have to preach to myself.
Because the Enemy (or my own fallen flesh, doesn’t matter which one) preaches lies. Telling me to abandon my righteousness, that God is untrustworthy, that I should just give up.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of those lies.
Which is part of the reason I make it such an emphasis to keep recentering myself on the Word of God.
Not only by reading the whole Bible every year, but in daily devotionals like this one.
Believe it or not, I need this devotional to keep me centered.
In fact, one of the biggest blessings I’ve experienced from writing these for you is how much it’s “forced” me to stay consistently connected to God.
After all, how can I hope to bring a worthwhile word to you if I’m ignoring my relationship with God?
I can’t.
But more than that, I also get to preach the truth to myself -- quite literally.
There’s a time delay between when I write these and when they land in my own inbox. So, even though I was the one to right them, these devotionals are still fresh.
God’s amazing like that!
Anyway, I hope you’re blessed today.
