God Is Wise & Strong
Watch out, that’s dangerous

[God] is wise in heart and mighty in strength — who has resisted him and remained safe?
Job 9:4 (NET)
===
I’m always careful about what I take from the book of Job.
At the end of the book, God gives Job and his friends a harrowing speech. He highlights how Job has honored God with his lips, but the advice from his friends was foolish.
Thus, I’m careful to only take Job’s words to heart.
I ignore the “advice” from his friends.
Which is tough sometimes, because some of it feels like good & sage advice.
To the extent it agrees with other Scripture, it might be sage advice. But we already know how God judges their advice so I find it best to just ignore the things they say.
Of course I took today’s verse from one of Job’s speeches.
It agrees with a lot that’s said in Proverbs (and in other Scripture).
Job is a book meant to convey wisdom to us, and this is a good verse for doing just that.
From the very beginning of the Bible, we see a God who is wise & powerful.
That’s the only way to create a universe out of nothing and make it orderly and good.
Those same traits are highlighted here. But more than that, Job gives a warning:
It’s dangerous to oppose God.
I’m sure we all agree in our heads. Yet we might find our flesh drifting away from His good plans, leading us in a path of opposition.
Watch out!
