God Is a Shield
š”ļø The shield of faithfulness
===
The one true God acts in a faithful manner; the Lordās promise is reliable; he is a shield to all who take shelter in him.
2 Samuel 22:31 (NET)
===
Whenever I think about the promises of God, I tend to think of Abraham.
God spoke to him uniquely, giving him some specific promises and then fulfilling them on a somewhat-strange timetable.
Making it obvious that God was the one providing the miracle.
Thatās the only way Isaac could have been born to Abraham and Sarah.
Now, most of us donāt get these hyper-specific promises from God. Especially ones that are delivered like God delivered His promises to Abraham.
(I guess I shouldnāt say āmostā because I can only speak from my own experience. Perhaps you have gotten some hyper specific promises from God.)
But we all still have plenty of promises from God to rely on.
The Bible is filled with Godās promises to His people.
In this verse, we see that God is faithful, reliable, and a shield to all those who take refuge in Him.
We can trust in these traits of God.
Knowing that He is always at work around us and is shaping us more and more into the image of Christ.
Which is ultimately a good thing. God is working for our benefit.
I find verses like this encouraging.
Very often I need the safety of a fortress. I want to rely on God as my strong protector, shielding me from the attacks of the Enemy.
Iām glad God promises to be faithful like this.
