Glorify the Lord
How that one crazy guy you see in the park might be right

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (NET)

One of the weird realities of our American Christian culture:
The separation of the sacred & the secular.
Meaning, we often put spiritual things (ministry work, church, volunteer, religious talk, etc.) in a box by itself. And in a separate box is all the day-to-day realities of living life (working, eating, sleeping, relaxing, relationships, etc.)
This ought not to be.
Here we have Paul sharing with the Corinthian church about the most every day, ordinary, mundane thing: eating and drinking. And he tells them that they can do this for God’s glory!
How?
I don’t have a 100% answer, but here are some thoughts:
First, we can do everything with an attitude of gratitude. That is, being thankful for the things that God gives us.
Also, we can bring God into the everyday discussions around us. After having finished an excellent book on prayer — A Praying Life by Paul Miller — I was challenged to add a lot more prayer to my life. And not in a highfalutin way, but more of an everyday conversation.
Like I’m walking around talking to God all the time.
(except, you know, in my head, because I don’t want to look like a crazy guy who talks to an invisible voice)
Anyway, this moves God into a category of trusted friend & confidant. More than an aloof king.
I suppose there is a danger here of being too familiar with God, but that’s a risk I’m willing to take. I’m sure God will correct me if He wants to.
Anyway, I hope you’re inspired today.
