Donāt Rebuke Me
===
Yahweh, donāt rebuke me in your wrath,
neither chasten me in your hot displeasure.
Psalm 38:1 (WEB)

For anyone whoās ever been caught with their hand in the cookie jar (so to speak), this verse is a good one.
Which means all of us.
A humble heart pleads for God to be merciful, especially when we know we donāt deserve it.
Thatās the amazing beauty about the grace of the Father.
He loves His children dearly, sending even His Son to take our punishment so that we might have life.
Sometimes I pick out verses that speak to me because they are so rich and deep.
I like to think deeply about things, itās enjoyable for me.
But a verse like this doesnāt require that kind of meditation.
Itās one of those thatās simple to understand. Yet stands out as a great reminder of my own failings as a person and how good God is in contrast.
Besides, every once in a while -- okay, itās actually pretty often -- I need to cry out to God and ask Him to stave off His displeasure.
In other words, I need grace to overcome my own failings.
When Iām crying out for help, itās almost always because of some stupid thing Iāve done. Or rather, not done. I avoid doing a lot of good things, which is a sin in its own right.
Anyway, this is a good one for me to read today.
Thanks for sharing it with me.
