Fully Rely on God (Part 2)
“Peace” corps guardsman
===
Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NET)

This verse is a fascinating word-picture.
I’ve always been intrigued by the image of “peace” being a soldier on guard. It’s such a strange juxtaposition. I don’t think of peace the same way I think of guards.
Yet it’s all around me.
A police force is designed to maintain the peace. When they’re on patrol, they’re prepared to step in and create peace when violence has erupted.
Which requires a show of force. Maybe some weapons and defenses.
God’s peace stands guard over my heart & mind.
Of course, what is He protecting me from?
The attacks of the Enemy.
The flames of accusations and the arrows of temptation.
This peace comes as a promise for the people who fully rely on God, bringing their worries to Him through prayer & petition with thanksgiving. It’s yet another reminder of the goodness of God at His continuing work in our lives.
I certainly could be better about relying more on God.
And I’m glad I always have access to Him for whatever life throws my way.
