Fully Rely on God (Part 1)
🐸 Leap-frogging out of worry
===
Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NET)

This verse often leaps out to me.
I first memorized it because it was tied to a cute little acronym: Fully Rely On God (FROG). That was back during the last days of the WWJD bracelets.
Anyway.
The command here to replace worry with reliance is strong. And to do that with an attitude of thanksgiving? That’s been tough for me to put into consistent practice.
Yet this is what a life of walking hand-in-hand with the Holy Spirit looks like.
Anything that comes up in life, we have the ability to immediately reach out to God for guidance. Which, as Jesus told his disciples, is better than having Jesus walking with us.
Practically, I need to be better about using worry as a trigger to call upon God.
Sort of like Pavlov’s dogs were triggered by the bell.
If I can do that, it’s sort of like a superpower for dealing with life. Anything that causes me to worry could simply be the starting point for yet another wonderful time spent with God.
I mean, if I’m going to spend eternity with Him anyway, might as well start early.
All right.
There’s a promise attached to these verses, which I’ll tackle tomorrow.
