For those looking for wisdom:
God Understands Wisdom
===
God understands the way to [wisdom], and he alone knows its place.
For he looks to the ends of the earth and observes everything under the heavens.
Job 28:23-24 (NET)
===
There’s quite a few interesting verses here in Job 28.
Basically highlighting man’s search for wisdom, wondering where he can find it?
It implies that wisdom is some mysterious, hidden, far-off thing.
But that’s not the case; God makes wisdom simple to find if we search for it and follow Him.
In a way I’m countering some Scripture, so let me explain:
In the book of Proverbs (the quintessential wisdom book) we see that wisdom is not found in some mountaintop retreat (like a lot of movies pretend the wisest monks live).
In Proverbs 8 we see that wisdom calls out in the city, basically declaring herself (personified as a woman) in the marketplace.
Implying that wisdom is easy to find, if you have an ear to hear her voice.
Furthermore, we have an advantage today that Job did not have:
Scripture -- the very Words of God -- written for our learning.
Not just written in an obscure, dead language. Translated for us to hear, read, study, memorize, and meditate on.
(Many people died to bring our Bibles into English -- praise God for those faithful saints!)
If you need wisdom from God, you have only to ask & seek.
God is generous with His wisdom, but often only when we humbly seek it.
I, for one, am grateful He doesn’t hide wisdom.
Plus, a bonus:
We have the Holy Spirit living inside of us who can help us see God’s wisdom as we read His Word.
He knows where to find wisdom.
