Fight the Battle
The main spiritual battle we face today
===
But go, act, be strong for the battle. Why should you suppose that God will cast you down before the enemy? For God has power to help or to cast down.
2 Chronicles 25:8 (ESV)

Earlier this week I was meeting one-on-one with a guy, talking through life and walking with Jesus.
A quote from J. Hudson Taylor’s biography (the one by Roger Steer) came up:
Work as if everything depends on you; pray as if everything depends on God.
I think this is the right tension to live our lives in.
That we would be a people who honor God with hard work. I mean, work is part of our perfection, right? It existed before the Fall of Mankind (when sin & death entered the world).
People often forget that.
See, it’s hard work that is a part of the Curse.
Work is good; hard work is a consequence of sin.
Yet God does so much more than we ever could.
Sort of an obvious statement. Yet if I’m not careful I can allow the reality of that to swing me toward laziness. Then I would dishonor God with my lack of proper actions.
Of course there is another hard work we can always do, no matter what situation we face:
Prayer.
One of my close mentors is currently in a season of prayer as a ministry. If you’ve never agonized in intercession over that battle, then you may not understand how much work it actually is.
It’s incredibly hard work.
And often without much visual fruit to spur you on.
I’m thankful for his service in this ministry. He knows that Hudson Taylor sentiment. I’m confident he’s working & praying hard.
If you’re looking for spiritual battles to fight, that’s the main one.
Pray.
