Fictional tragedies teaching true life lessons
Immovable Righteous
===
No one can be established through wickedness, but a righteous root cannot be moved.
Proverbs 12:3 (NET)

I like this one.
(Well, obviously, since I picked it out.)
It has to do with the foundation you build your life — and your actions — upon.
The wicked build their lives on sand — an ever shifting foundation that cannot support them in the storms of life.
The more astute of you will have noticed I’m referencing Jesus’ famous parable of the two men who build their homes on different foundations.
Lies are slippery.
And wickedness is deceptive, by its very nature.
Anyone who has seen tragedy unfold knows that it’s the lies that prove to be the destruction of the protagonists.
Usually, telling the truth turns out to be the better plan, even if the immediate consequences are painful.
You can see that when tragedies unravel.
You can probably think of times in your own life when you faced a tough situation and decided lying was the better choice. I’m willing to bet it didn’t turn out well — and that the truth would have been better.
I suppose that a righteous root could literally be moved, but that’s not the point.
The point is that building on a foundation of Truth & Righteousness is the better path.
I’m glad God doesn’t hide wisdom from us — even if we are often too “blind” to see it.
