Encourage One Another
Stirring the pot, but in a good way
===
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)
===
I find it interesting that the writer of Hebrews wants us to think about how to stir up one another to love & good works.
I mean, that’s what “consider” is, right? Thinking seriously about how to do something.
(It is, I looked it up.)
The only way to do this is by being in relationship with one another.
Everyone has a unique personality. Some things that stir up love and good works for me (a high introvert) won’t work the same for a high extrovert. And vice versa.
More:
Action must be taken on the things that we’ve considered.
It does the Body of Christ no good to have thought about some incredible ways to stir up love & good works without actually trying some of them.
“But what if it fails?”
Believe me, I struggle with this worry all … the … time.
Yet our best lessons in life are learned from failures. I know some of my own greatest ministry leadership lessons were learned from absolutely failing an early ministry position I had. And God has made me a better man through it.
So, I guess the challenge for you today is to think seriously about how you can stir up someone to love & good works … and then try it.
And then, let me know how it goes.
Who knows, I may get to send a bonus email with some cool stories from you all.
