Easy now, dreadfully difficult later
No Rock Like Our God
===
No one is holy like the Lord!
There is no one other than you!
There is no rock like our God!
1 Samuel 2:2 (NET)
===
I like verses such as this.
The ones part of a whole subcategory of descriptions of God as the rock, cornerstone, fortress, strong tower, etc.
The Lord is our stable foundation.
I think of the parable Jesus tells of the wise and foolish men who build their homes on the rock or the sand.
Both looked stable for a time, both faced the storms of life, only one home survived the calamity.
When the storms of life hit your home, will it stand or crash?
The one that stands is building a life on the Rock.
Staying obedient to the commandments and wisdom that God gives to us. Pushing aside sin and temptations, pursuing righteousness. Relying on the Holy Spirit to guide you through all things.
Not a complicated thing to understand, but difficult to do.
Because we’re naturally selfish and lazy.
It takes work to build a solid home on a foundation of stone.
It’s easy to build on the sand.
Well, easy at first, but dreadfully difficult after the storm.
