Don’t Slack Off!
The case against cutting yourself a little slack
===
The one who is slack in his work is a brother to one who destroys.
Proverbs 18:9 (NET)
===
Just today I was reading a post from a guy who is doing multiple millions per year as a one-man business. He was sharing his process so others could succeed too.
Here’s a good quote:
“Indecision is a decision.”
Laziness or procrastination or slacking off in work is deciding to be indecisive. It’s a silent eater of success because it’s disguised as prudence — “I’m waiting until all the ducks are in a row to make the wisest decision.”
There are rare times when that’s the right move.
Unfortunately, most of the time the best move is to just take action.
Like, right away.
I’m guilty of indecision (or inaction) which is why I picked this verse out to memorize.
It’s a sharp reminder that laziness is akin (literally) to destruction.
Sure, it’s a long, silent, far-off destroyer. i.e., you don’t feel the effects right away. But they are there, eating away.
So, the hard question to ask is:
“What decision are you putting off that you could just make right now?”
For instance, I’m always looking for the “ideal time” to reach out to someone when I want to talk. I want to get in touch spontaneously when we both are free to chat. Except I have no idea what their schedule is, I’m just guessing.
So, what do I do?
Wait.
Putting off chats for weeks when I could just ask to schedule a time.
Dumb.
Anyway, what are you putting off for “tomorrow” that you could just start taking care of right now?
Go & do that.
