Do Your Duty
Fixing my blindspots
===
So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’”
Luke 17:10 (ESV)

I talked a couple days ago about the Upside-down Kingdom.
Here’s another example of it.
There’s a humility Jesus teaches here about being a person who does their duty without asking for or expecting a reward. Of course, we know that there is a reward awaiting us in heaven as part of the work we do here on the Earth.
But that shouldn’t seep into our ego.
I often struggle with only doing my duty.
It’s not so much the ego struggle — although I do have an issue with pride — but it’s more of not paying attention to the work that needs to be done around me.
I often miss the blessings I could bring to people by simply being oblivious.
It’s a blind spot.
How do I fix a blind spot?
By definition, it’s something that I cannot see.
Luckily, I’m not the only person who cares about my development. I’ve got friends & family around me who can speak into my life and help me overcome blind spots. I also have mentors who I’ve asked specifically to help me from time to time.
And, of course, I have the Holy Spirit living within me.
He can do the best job of helping my blind eyes to see.
I mean, if God can heal physical blindness, is it really too much to ask for Him to heal some mental blindness?
No, no it’s not too much to ask. In fact, it’s never too much to ask.
After all, God can do immeasurably more than we can ask or even think.
