Day 365
Avoid Isolation
===
One who has isolated himself seeks his own desires; he rejects all sound judgment.
Proverbs 18:1 (NET)
===
We were made for community.
In fact, even before the Fall of Man God declared that something was “not good”
It’s not good that people are alone.
God created a helpmate for Adam, told them to multiply and fill the earth and rule over it.
It’s shouldn’t be a surprise that the triune God who exists in eternal, perfect community with the three members of the Trinity, and who made us in His image, made us to live in community with people.
Isolation is not the ideal.
This is a little tougher one for me because I really like my “me” time.
In fact, as I’m writing this, I’ve spent the whole day alone and I’ve quite enjoyed myself.
(Such is the introvert life.)
The reason seeking isolation is sinful is because it’s selfish.
It’s not that far away from ego & pride coming before the Lord. I suspect it’s very easy for an isolated person to cast aside God’s ideas and prefer their own.
Even in isolation, we’re never alone.
Our spirit deals with the desires of our flesh. There’s also a spiritual war going on all around us and influence from the Enemy won’t stop because you’re physically separate from people.
Seeking isolation is a sign of sin and also foolish.
The proverb tells us this.
We can use just a little bit of logic & Scripture to back it up.
Remember that living in community is a great joy, and a gift from God. Share that joy with others.

P.S. This post marks number 365 in my Daily Scripture Minute journey. Yes, I’ve finished one whole year of looking at Bible verses and sharing my thoughts.
I’ve got about fifty new verses already lined up, more and more to follow.
No slowing down.
I’m just getting started.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
