Cry Out to God
What to do when you’re in the middle of trouble
===
They received divine help in fighting them, and the Hagrites and all their allies were handed over to them. They cried out to God during the battle; he responded to their prayers because they trusted in him.
1 Chronicles 5:20 (NET)
===
I know that God’s not some divine genie, granting wishes that I want.
Also, I know that there are times when the battle I’m in is really a mess of my own making. Sometimes God comes through when I cry out to Him in those times, and sometimes He lets me learn from my own mistakes.
I defer to His divine wisdom.
Regardless, when times are tough, I should still cry out to Him.
He’s a good Father. He wants to help out His children. Sometimes the best help is to let them learn from their mistakes so they can grow and mature properly.
We’ve all seen some of the damage that “helicopter parenting” did to some people who now don’t know how to handle life when things don’t go their way. In short, it’s a selfish disaster. And usually really loud.
Sometimes God rescues us.
I think of all the times that King David cried out to God in the Psalms.
Or how about the time Jonah cried out to God in the midst of the whale? That’s one where he was in trouble because of his own disobedience, yet God was still merciful. In fact, God was able to both rescue Jonah and teach him a valuable lesson.
God’s good like that.
Anyway, the point here is to encourage you to always cry out to God when trials come. No matter if they’re “your fault” or not, God still has power & wisdom to help.
He’s often gracious enough to do just that.
Cry out to God.
