Boldly Approach the Throne

For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin. Let’s therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.

Since yesterday was such a hard topic, I thought I’d provide some more encouragement today.
Namely, that Jesus understands our struggles, experienced many of them, and is sympathetic to us.
It’s tempting to think that God is “other” and cannot possibly comprehend what we go through.
Which might have been true, except God chose to take on human flesh. Limiting Himself to a shortened life on the Earth in order to bring salvation to all who trust in Him.
He was simultaneously king, high priest, and sacrificial lamb.
Giving us confidence to approach the God who understands us.
I don’t know how He pulled off living over thirty years in this world without sin.
I’m not sure I can go thirty minutes!
I need all the help I can get, including the forgiveness, grace, and understanding of a God who loves me.
It’s Christ’s work on the cross that allows us to approach the Lord’s throne for mercy and grace.
And we are encouraged to approach that throne boldly!
I’m not a naturally bold person.
But since we’ve been given permission, then I’m going to do it.
I suspect it’s a similar picture to a young child boldly approaching their parent in the midst of a formal setting. The child doesn’t care that other people are looking at him; he wants dad right now.
We can have that confidence.
So take heart, approach God’s throne in boldness, and receive mercy and grace (again) today.
