Christ’s Help in Temptation
The only good temptations sang in the 60’s
===
For since [Christ] himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.
Hebrews 2:18 (NET)
===
“Is God actually relatable?
Does He understand my struggles?
How could the God of the universe, the perfect, timeless, creator of all things possibly know what it’s like to deal with all the stuff that I have to deal with?”
Believe it or not, I think these are great questions.
Because they are honest. They are the kinds of questions someone asks when they’re really struggling with life and can’t see the way forward.
God is big enough to handle ALL of our hard questions.
More than that, He actually understands our struggle.
The only way He could understand our struggle is if He went through the same things as a limited human being. Which, of course, He did.
Did Jesus go through your exact scenario of temptation?
Probably not, because the technology of His day was quite different than today.
But the same general kinds of temptations, those have not changed — nor will they change — since humanity first fell to sin.
The seven “deadly” sins remain across time.
And Jesus suffered temptation just like you and me … except He conquered it completely.
So, take heart today, that whatever temptation comes your way, Jesus understands and will help.
All we have to do is ask.

P.S. The first line of this post is a quote from my late grandfather and it still sticks with me today. It’s a small reminder that even after our lives are finished here on the earth, our work can still be reaping fruit.
