Bless All the Earth
Blessings from the Miracle Maker
===
And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Genesis 12:2-3 (ESV)
===
This is part of the blessing that God gives to Abraham.
The part that stands out to me:
In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.
How does God accomplish this?
Through Jesus Christ.
He is, of course, a part of the lineage of Abraham and thus fulfills this blessing.
There is another aspect of this promise that’s incredible:
At the time we have recorded, Abraham did not yet have any children.
And he was already an old man.
So, not only is this blessing in itself a miracle from God. But fulfilling that promise in Abraham’s lifetime was also a miracle.
Thus we get the story of Isaac.
Too often I forget about the miraculous work of God when I’m facing my day to day struggles.
Here I have a direct line to the God of the universe, creator of all things, who loves me. Yet I forget to seek Him first when I’m facing trials.
(I often try and think my way out of things, rather than praying first.)
I don’t know if you have a similar struggle, but I’d encourage you to take some time and pray today.
Either seek help from Him or thank Him for all the blessings He’s given to you.
… or both, that’s good too.
